Drama Workshops

Don Rae Academy provides professional drama workshops designed to introduce children to acting, storytelling and performance through practical and engaging activities.

Workshops give participants the opportunity to explore drama in an interactive setting while developing communication, creativity, confidence and teamwork.

Our drama workshops are designed for children with different levels of experience. Sessions can introduce children to acting techniques, characterisation, improvisation and performance through activities that encourage everyone to participate.

What Happens in a Drama Workshop?

Drama workshops can include a variety of practical activities depending on the age and requirements of the group.

Storytelling

Improvisation

How children take part

Activities can be completed individually, in pairs or as part of a group.

Each child can try techniques for themselves and build their own performance confidence.

Working with a partner encourages children to listen and respond to one another.

Group activities encourage children to work together towards a shared performance.

The practical format gives children an opportunity to learn by doing. Rather than simply discussing acting, participants can try different techniques and develop their skills through performance activities.

Schools

Suitable for Different Ages

Drama workshops can be adapted according to the age and experience of participants.

Younger children may benefit from imaginative games, storytelling and simple acting activities.

Older pupils can explore characterization, improvisation and performance techniques in greater depth.

Performance Opportunities

A drama workshop can also provide children with an opportunity to perform what they have learnt.

Depending on the workshop format, participants may work towards a short presentation or group activity. This can give children a clear objective and encourage them to apply the skills introduced during the session.
