Don Rae Academy provides regular dance and drama academy sessions for children and teenagers at selected locations. Each academy follows a scheduled timetable, allowing children to take part in structured performing arts classes during the week.
The academy programme combines dance, drama, performance and creative activities, giving children opportunities to develop their skills while working with other young performers.
Our academies provide a regular environment where children can attend weekly performing arts sessions. Classes are designed to encourage participation, creativity and performance development.
Children can explore dance routines, acting, storytelling, movement, characterisation and performance as part of the wider academy programme.
The sessions also provide opportunities to work towards an end-of-term performance, giving children a practical goal to work towards throughout the term.
These scheduled sessions allow families to choose an academy based on the available day and time.
Class availability can change, so visitors should contact Don Rae Academy or check the relevant enrolment information for current availability before booking.
Spaces are capped so every child gets time on stage. Waiting lists move quickly each half term.
Academy sessions provide a mixture of dance, drama and performance activities.
Children can take part in dance routines, acting exercises, character work, storytelling and other creative activities. The programme is designed to provide variety while developing practical performing arts skills.
Themed programmes can bring different activities together, with scripts, songs and dances contributing towards an end-of-term performance.
This gives children the opportunity to develop their skills progressively rather than treating each session as a separate activity.
Regular attendance allows children to become familiar with the class environment and develop their skills over time.
The current academy programme states that sessions last one and a half hours. Children work towards an end-of-term performance as part of their regular programme.
Weekly participation can help children build familiarity with routines, develop relationships with other children and become more comfortable performing as part of a group.
The academy programme provides opportunities for different age groups, including primary and secondary-aged children.
Children can explore dance and drama according to their interests and experience. There are also opportunities to develop specific interests through areas such as street dance and teen drama
If you are unsure which class is most suitable, contact the academy to discuss the available options.
