Dance Workshops

Don Rae Academy provides professional dance workshops designed to bring engaging performing arts experiences directly to children. Workshops can introduce participants to dance, movement, choreography and performance through practical sessions delivered by experienced performers.

The workshops are designed to be interactive and accessible, giving children opportunities to learn new movements, develop performance skills and take part in a creative group activity.

Dance Workshops for Children

Dance workshops provide an opportunity for children to experience dance outside a regular class structure.

Sessions can introduce participants to different movements, routines and choreography while encouraging them to work together. Children can learn through practical participation rather than simply watching demonstrations.

Workshops can be adapted around the group and the requirements of the session, making them suitable for different ages and experience levels.

Practical Dance Experience

The workshop format gives children an opportunity to learn dance in an active environment.

Participants can be introduced to choreography and then practise the movements.

Children practise movements as individuals, developing coordination.

Workshops can also provide an opportunity for children who do not regularly attend dance classes to experience the activity in an accessible format.

Practising as part of a group allows children to become familiar with performing together.

The practical format gives children an opportunity to learn by doing. Rather than simply discussing acting, participants can try different techniques and develop their skills through performance activities.

Rhythm, timing, expression

As participants learn choreography, they can explore rhythm, timing, expression and presentation.

One complete routine

Working as a group also helps children understand how individual movements contribute to a complete routine.

Share what they’ve learnt

Depending on the workshop format, children may have an opportunity to perform what they have learnt at the end of the session.
