Teen Drama Classes

Don Rae Academy provides teen drama classes designed to give teenagers opportunities to develop acting, communication and performance skills in a creative and supportive environment.

Drama Classes for Teenagers

Teen drama classes can introduce students to different areas of acting and performance. Activities may include character development, improvisation, storytelling, scene work, voice projection and performance techniques.

Teenagers can explore how actors communicate characters and stories through voice, movement, expression and interaction with other performers.

The emphasis is on practical participation, giving students opportunities to develop their skills by performing and working with others.

Developing Acting Skills

Teen drama provides opportunities to explore more detailed aspects of acting. Students can work on characters, scenes and performance choices while learning how to communicate effectively with an audience.

Improvisation can encourage teenagers to respond creatively and think quickly. Scene work can develop listening, timing and interaction with other performers.

Regular practice gives students the opportunity to develop their technique and become more comfortable performing.

Confidence and Communication

Teenagers can face different challenges when communicating and expressing themselves. Drama provides a structured creative environment where they can explore ideas and participate with others.

Performing scenes, developing characters and working on group activities can encourage teenagers to communicate clearly and listen to other performers.

The experience of preparing and performing can also provide a sense of achievement as students see their skills develop.

Performance Opportunities

Performance is an important part of the Don Rae Academy approach. Students can work towards performances where they apply skills developed during their regular sessions.

Preparing for a performance requires focus, preparation and teamwork. Students may need to learn lines, understand their character, practise scenes and work with other performers.

This gives teenagers practical experience of the process involved in preparing a performance.

A Creative Environment

Teen drama classes provide a structured environment where students can explore acting while developing their own creative ideas.

Activities can include individual exercises, paired work and group performance. This variety allows students to practice different aspects of drama while working collaboratively.

The aim is to provide an engaging environment where teenagers can develop their performance skills and enjoy taking part.
